Single-Phase Induction Motors
Every motor in Nanyang’s published catalogue is a single-phase induction motor — the workhorse architecture of the world’s washing machines — and every listing is specified to IEC 60034. This family page gathers the range’s technical core: the two 80–220 W models that anchor it, and the wash motors that share the same electrical platform.

01 The Anchor Models
XM-8208 and XM-8178 — 80–220 W
| XM-8208 — AC single-phase electric motor | 80–220 W · 220–240 V / 110 V · 50/60 Hz · List US$6.00–12.00 · MOQ 1,000 pcs |
|---|---|
| XM-8178 — Spare parts electric motor | 80–220 W · 220–240 V / 110 V · 50/60 Hz · List US$6.00–12.00 · MOQ 1,000 pcs |
| Shared listing data | Winding wire: copper, aluminium or copper-clad aluminium · Specification: IEC 60034 · HS 85014000 · Packing: pallets or cartons · Terms: L/C, T/T |
The upper power band is where twin-tub machines with large wash loads, and spare-part programmes replacing motors in existing machines, tend to land. The XM-8178’s listing positions it squarely for the replacement trade — “washing machine spare parts — electric motor” is its catalogue name — while the XM-8208 is the range’s general single-phase unit. Matching a replacement is a nameplate exercise: photograph the plate on the motor being replaced (model, voltage, frequency, power, capacitor data if shown) and send it with your quantity. If the match is in this catalogue, you get a price; if it is not, you get a straight answer rather than a near-enough substitute.
02 The Wash Range
Same platform, three power points
Below the anchor models sit the wash motors the rest of the catalogue is built from: XM-8048, XM-8028 and XM-8068, each listed at 25–220 W with identical voltage, frequency, wire, packing and terms data. One electrical platform across the wash range simplifies a manufacturer’s own engineering: controls, wiring looms and test procedures carry across machine sizes, and only the motor’s power point and mechanical interface change. Which starting arrangement a given build uses — capacitor start or capacitor run — is part of the specification conversation; our guide to capacitor start vs capacitor run motors explains the trade-offs, and the stator and rotor at the heart of these machines are covered in the lamination guide.
03 Questions
Single-phase induction, answered plainly
What does ‘listed to IEC 60034’ mean here?
IEC 60034 is the international standard series for rotating electrical machines — ratings, performance and efficiency classes. Each catalogue listing states IEC 60034 as its specification basis. Test documentation for a specific model is confirmed per order; see the quality page.
50 Hz or 60 Hz — do I need different motors?
The listings cover both frequencies, but a winding is optimised for its rated frequency. State your market’s frequency in the enquiry; the quotation confirms the winding for it.
Can these motors run a pump or fan instead of a washer?
They are designed and listed as washing machine motors. Single-phase induction as an architecture suits many duties — the company’s shaded pole line covers small fan duty — but a catalogue wash motor should not be re-purposed without an engineering conversation. Ask, with the duty data.
Match by nameplate, not by guess
Send the rating plate of the motor you use or replace today. We answer with the matching catalogue model and its confirmed current data.
